Built in 1839, the Old Courthouse is a prime example of mid-19th century federal architecture. Now part of Gateway Arch National Park, you can tour this historic structure and visit the restored courtrooms to learn more about the 19th century U.S. judicial system.

The Old Courthouse played a significant role in American history. It was the site of the first two trials of the pivotal Dred Scott case in 1847 and 1850, and was also where Virginia Minor's case for a woman's right to vote came to trial in the 1870s.
