Magnificent Mile Tour
The Magnificent Mile Tour will give you a good sense of the vibrancy of the city. It includes some architectural gems, a brief river walk, outstanding shopping opportunities and some cultural experiences. While The Magnificent Mile (north Michigan Avenue) is known for it’s upscale shopping (Nieman Marcus, Saks, Tiffany’s, Cartier, etc. can all be found here), don’t be intimidated if you don’t usually shop in these establishments. There is plenty of other great shopping, along with numerous dining options and things to do along the “Mag Mile”!

Like other downtown areas, this area is a melting pot of locals from throughout Chicago, tourists, conventioneers and harried business people. Don’t be surprised to see street musicians, jugglers or living statues as you stroll down the avenue.

If you’re here around the holidays (generally mid-November to mid-January), be sure to see The Magnificent Mile at night. The Saturday before Thanksgiving is the annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival. This is a very popular family-friendly event where the lights along Michigan Avenue are turned on for the season. The lights are magical, and it’s sure to put the grumpiest of Scrooges in the holiday spirit!

No matter the season, the Magnificent Mile is an area to stroll at your own pace, grab a bite to eat and soak in the atmosphere! (Approximate distance of walking tour: 0.75 miles.)
