Since opening its doors on a snowy Chicago night in December of 1959, The Second City has grown from a small cabaret theater into the sketch comedy and improv institution that’s launched the careers of generation after generation of superstars. From Steve Carell to Keegan-Michael Key, Stephen Colbert to Tina Fey, Chris Farley to Mike Myers, Second City is the premier breeding ground for talent, and with shows seven nights a week, you won’t want to miss your chance to take in one of their hilariously electrifying revues or award-winning original productions. Come see where it all began, and find out why The Second City has been the hottest (and funniest!) ticket in town for over 60 years.

Performances are offered 7 nights a week on their three resident stages, with weekend matinees. A full food and drink menu offers a taste of everything--including a good dose of local craft beers. There is no drink minimum at any of their theaters.

Getting to The Second City
The Second City theaters are located in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood at the corner of North Ave and Wells Street. We are easily reached by public transportation, car, bicycle, or foot. The Second City is a short cab ride from downtown and is two blocks east of the Brown Line Sedgwick stop on the El. There are always plenty of cabs available outside the theater when the shows let out.
