Located just north of the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum contains a wealth of information about local ecology and the many plants, animals, and insects found in the Midwest Region. Their collections provide baseline data for studies of our environment, and document how humans have changed local ecosystems over time. One of the museum's highlights is the year-round butterfly garden with over 40 different species of butterflies.
